Beware of Suzuki Fun Center in Durango, CO
Last week, Bob and I traveled to Colorado to to ride the Tincup loop and other trails. We made the mistake of not re-jetting for the higher elevations before we left home. A mistake that came back to bite us in the a$$.
Bob needed to rejet so we called the Suzuki Fun Center in Durango to see what it would cost. I talked to "Matt" in their service department and he said that he would rejet Bob's twin for $60, and since my Big Bear has a single carb, he'd do mine for $30. I didn't really need it. The Big Bear ran ok after I took the airbox cover off, but for $30 I figured I couldn't go wrong. He set us up an appointment for 9 AM the following morning.
So, we left Ouray at 7AM the following morning to make the 2 hour drive to durango. (Mountain roads and all). We got there and dropped the bikes off. We were told that it would take about 1 1/2 hours, so we went to the local Wal-Mart to get our fishing licenses and do some shopping.
When we returned to the Suzuki Fun Center, the scooters were ready, but the bill was over twice as much as we'd been quoted. My bill was $75. Bob's bill was the same because, for some reason, they only needed to rejet one of his twin carbs. I'm no mechanic so I don't know. When I asked why the bill was so much more than we were told it would be, Matt said that the work had taken almost an hour and that the minumum service charge was 1 hour @ $60 per hour.
If that was the case, why did he quote me the $30 price to begin with? It was simply an out and out lie. This seems to be the way that they do business. Take this as a warning and avoid doing business with these crooks at all costs. Besides over-charging us, they didn't solve the problems. We still had to remove the airbox covers and bob's twin still didnt have the power he should have. There is another shop in Durango that I'm told is trustworthy. It's a Yamaha dealer and if you're ever in Durango, CO. and need service, I have to recommend that you avoid Suzuki Fun Center at all costs.
