Hey there
I own a Cabin in Croghan NY....and we went riding in Tug Hill and the only places that you can ride are those seasonal roads....dont like with all the dust. BUT if you go on my side, I myself have a Cabin in Croghan, you can ride in (Croghan, Lowville, Belfort, Soft Maple etc. there is many many trails. If you need a map just stop at a local store.(Nice N Easy in Croghan) All you need to do is trailer over to here and you can ride. It really isnt that far and is def worth it, Croghan Lovwille have some of the best riding around. If you ever want to ride let me know, i go up in the summer like everyother week. I love it there and usaully have a large group of 20 or 30. So much fun. Just message me if you ever want to ride together! Hope i helped

TBONE, so are these public trails, or just everyone rides them? I assume you need reggie and insurance? I have heard there were trails near the Timberview Lodge also, but have never been. In fact, i think that place USED to rent quads a few years back.

Also you could join the Oswego County club and/or Trailpass. They have some decent trails just south of Tug Hill. Still have some dirt roads, but there were quite a few trails also.

i figure with everything in tug hill there has to be trails somewhere, the seasonal road are great for snowmobiling, but on the quads i like to get off road a little, i will definatly look by timberview for thoes trails. i have seen pic of people on here riding trails there but can never get anyonre to tell me where they are. maybe they are on private land.

ajd, yes and no. The trailpass map is pathetic. I have heard there are over 100 miles of trail(some of it is roadway.) You get a much better map from the club, and possibly a Trailpass discount also. I was impressed with what was up there from just my one trip. There is even a sand pit to play around in.

"i havent been on too many trails up there, but i know there are some power line trails and mud trails near the Timberview lodge- i think thats in lowville".
Nah the Timberview i believe is in Turin or Martinsville. If you continue going north you will go into the town of Lowville. From there if you want to go to the trails that New York State has provided for us with the Reg. money, go to the Old Sawmill Inn(315-376-9950). They can set you up with maps and lodgeing. I used to camp there and stay in there rooms for several years before i got my cabin. Yes it is true you need Reg. and Insu. but, doubtfull that you will get pulled over as long as you obey the rules of the trail and roads. Good backup to get one.
SCOOTER- They are public trails, and everyone does ride them. The locals up there actually use the atv as more as a mean of transpertation. The trails are beautiful up there and have many are made for different skill levels.
TUG HILL-
Tug Hill does have trails. I bet most of you infact have heard of The Flat Rock Inn. You need to trailer your quads there, but once you do, you can get a map there to. Not many trails but still some none the less. Mostly Seasonal roads. I sugest if you want to ride more trails, go to the Lewis County Area(Croghan, Lowville etc.). Much better trails.

i remember this one trail, close to timberview, that was impassible -the mud was so bad and deep that we had to turn around
thats the only thing i dont like about going up to tug hill- the lack of trails- sure its nice to wail down the roads, but even that gets old
have you guys seen the wind mills they put up there by flat rock? pretty impressive if you ask me
