Hope everyone had a good time this weekend, we did! But what the heck is going on out there? We usually camp off of Dale Evans but a little bit further down than the big area right by the freeway. If you go past that area and down to Stoddard Wells Road, hang a left and go down about 3-4 miles there's some awesome riding and camping. However that area is now off limits! Apparently the landowners at the Dale Evans/Stoddard Wells intersection convinced the person who owns that land to outlaw camping and off roading. You now have to go down into the BLM owned land which is a bit further down and is not as nice for camping. All it took was a few @$$holes to start riding on the paved roads by the homes! (We found this out from one of vendors on duty this weekend.) I know the ostrich farmers are a bit upset and it probably won't be long until they shut down that area right off the freeway.
On the plus side, we did quite a bit of riding to scout out future campsites and found tons and tons of untapped (at least for us) riding areas that we never went to before!
If you want to go off road to this area from the freeway staging spots just follow the power line road that runs parallel to the freeway northbound. You'll go up over a hill and back down. In the middle of the valley is another dirt road that runs east. Take that and in about 15 to 20 minutes you'll be at the BLM land that has some pretty nice trails.
See you at the poker run the last weekend of the month? Out by the Slash-X off hwy 247! Tons of fun!
