Need a fun place to ride and camp for the weekend...WA,OR or ID?
#1
Heading out next Friday 29th and returning on the 5th.
Looking for a good place to take the toy hauler, quads, wife, kid & dogs. I live in Central WA, we have great riding here but want to get away (not too far though).
We have been to Florence and love it but the wife hates the weather so she want to do something else, does not have to be dunes but I am a big fan of that!!!
Just a fun place to camp, play and let the dogs run a bit!
Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish I would have seen this before we left camping ourselves. We just got back from sand lakes in Ore. The weather was great got sun burnt and the heat was gone at night so it was refreshingly cool with sun burns. The dunes are diffrent than florence, it can get packed on the weekends,so its not for uson the weekends, but during the week its empty for the most part.Thats when we go because of the kids.Nice camp sites no hookups .There about 50 reserve sites and 50+ first come sites but as I said week days its empty. Lots of riding for the kids no big razor backs like florence. We heard of a lake called rim rock or ridgerock, going over white pass, and since thats kinda your backyard any info on the riding and camping there would be a big help.

Thanks for the info, I will check into that area. Something came up and we weren't able to go very far anyway.
The place you are talking about is indeed RimRock lake. Good camping and riding but you will need to trailer the toys on the road depending on how far back you stay. If you are looking for some of the best around here is Tampico or Little Nachees area, depending on the riding you do... Little Nachees has tons of Jeep trails and areas to ride but you can't ride on the road their either.

If you liked Florence, Sandlake may bore you. The weather at Florence can be beautiful during the summer but you definately need reservations at the campground.
Check out Browns Camp. It's on the Hiway from Portland to Tillamook.
I haven't camped there yet but I stopped and checked out the campground on my way home from Florence in June. It has hundreds of miles of trails and you can ride on the roads if needed.
You can get information about it on the web. It's in Tillamook National Forest.
