I sp/ a guy this morning thats building a home down the street from me and he might be able to help. If you want to try and help or plan, you can ride whenever you want

I built a track on my own property back when I used to motocross 2 wheelers. I would suggest first figuring out how big of a track you want. Then measure it out, where you want turns, jumps, etc. Get it all down on paper, (make a blueprint if you will, crayons work good), Then go out to the site and measure and flag it out, this way you know what trees you only need to remove (shade is a good thing on those hot summer days). As far as tree removal goes why not do it yourself? Buy your own chainsaw, (you'll need it later to remove downed branches anyways) and then rent a stump grinder. The leftover wood from the stumps would make a good starting base for jumps, just dump the dirt on top of them, or use the logs. Believe me jumps require ALOT more dirt than they look so the more junk type of fill you use under them the better. For my whoop section I cut up three telephone poles and laid them out, spacing them out the same apart, then buried them with alot of sand mostly. Whoops aka Millville Minnesota pro National style. Big and rough. You could probably use some downed tree trunks in the same way. Another important thing is to measure out the distances between your double and triple jumps. On one of mine I blew it and made too big of a gap right out of a turn, making it either a single single, or a tough double that I cased it damn near every time I rode on the track. I chipped a bone in my thumb because of that jump and have never been the same until recently. You should rent a skid steer or loader to move your dirt around. They are necessary for building jumps. I also bought some haybales from some local farmers to put around trees that were in possible spots where I could hit them if I lost control. I also own a tractor with a harrow disc and would suggest you getting a disc someday. It's nice to be able to resurface the track during the drought summer months when it gets hardpacked with about 3 inches of dust on top. I have gone down many times in turns because of conditions like that but not anymore. If you need ideas on jumps go to your local track on open riding day and cut some laps so you can guage your skill. Bring a tape measurer with you when you go and if you find some jumps you like measure away for your own track. Roundup weed killer works great for the initial construction......spray....wait until it dies....then torch it....if conditions allow that. I got lucky. My dirt cost me 5 cases of beer. I saw a guy hauling black dirt all day and followed him to his worksite. Asked him what would it take for some dirt....about 10 double axle loads or 100+ tons.....5 cases......sold. Hope some of this helps, Brian

Brian, thats exactly the type of info I was looking for. Im slowing getting there with equipment and all but starting out with nothing. I'm making a trail right now with what i got ( chainsaw). The seller left one of those harrow discs for me to use. give me a call if you want to take a look at the layout. 803 431 1377 troy
