Taos, New Mex- Help
#1
Is there any one from the Taos New Mex. area. I grew up in the area at Pot Creek in the 1950s . I understand this area has been turned back to the US. forest service. Does any one know if you can ride ATVs on the old logging roads? I am planning a trip out this summer maybe and would like to find out if these old roads are still open. Pot Creek area, Rio Chquto over to Black Lake?

Haven't ridden the Taos area at all or have I heard of any trails that can be ridden there. I know that you can ATV over at Red River.
We have a group that rides the Santa Fe National Forest in the Jemez District, if you get out this way this Summer feel free to drop me a line & I can fill you in on the areas we ride. SFNF - Jemez, is not that far from Taos, just a couple of hrs away.

Yes it is certianly Gods country. I lived at Black Lake fro 2 years, around 1948. And I lived at Rio Chiqutio when the saw mill was there in the very early 50's. My dad even help build a school house there and alot of the local residents never knew there was a school there. I use to visit it frequintly but the last 6 or seven years we have went out there in out RV and it is too rough to drive up there in. I purchased a ATV this year and would like to park and take it up there. About 10 years ago I took a employee (instead of giving him a watch) on a hunting trip out there. We we went up Rio Chiquto (which I was fimualuar with) He could not believe the vastness of the land. We drove on up over Riq Chiquto to Black Lake.
Would like to drive ATV across to Black Lake.
