Not sure if I understand why, but:

Renewed my tabs on trailer, $10 for a new plate, $20 to keep old plate. What was wrong with my old plate and why does it cost more for something you already have?

 

Mandated revenue generation. The SOW decided to force everyone to replace their plates every 5 years(I think) so they can force that income stream. Another way to tack on more crap since they got forced by the voters to stop charging ridiculously exorbitant fees for tabs($1200 a year, in the case of a 2 year old Dodge Caravan in 1998)when the $30 tabs initiative passed. Just had to do the same thing for my truck.

Now there's talk of overriding the 1% maximum voted in last year on annual property tax increases so they can jack property taxes to make up for decreased tax revenues. In addition to looking at increasing property taxes, they just approved allowing colleges to increase tuition fees by up to 14%. Glad I ain't gotta put no chitlins through school. Geez.

Weather has taken a turn for the worse this morning, only down to 46 during the night but the wind has come up and it's overcast. By by to the warm sunny skies again. Back to working on stuff inside.

We were going to resurrect the old camper pickup that has been setting idle for the past couple of years but that may have to wait a day or two. Sure looks like it's going to rain.
