CLOUT Legislative Alert: PSHB 1244, $10 Million theft of YOUR ORV money!
Here is what may the biggest opportunity YOU may ever have to influence what
happens to your ORV tag and ORV gas tax refund money!!!
Today the WA State House Rules Committee is about to pull this Bill to the
House Floor for a vote. This Bill will STEAL almost $10 million dollars of
YOUR GAS TAX REFUND and ORV TAG money that you were promised would be spent
to provide and promote ORV opportunities in WA State when the ORV users
VOLUNTARILY worked with the Legislature in the early 1970's to DONATE their
personal gas off road fuel gas tax refund (owed to you by the WA State
Constitution) and gave up YOUR RIGHT to a refund in exchange for having the
State promise to manage that money FOR ORV purposes. Let's get them to
change this one line before it goest to the House Floor for a vote!
YOUR PERSONAL LEGISLATOR WILL VOTE ON IT THIS WEEK and they may not even
know the history of your voluntarily donated NOVA funds. In fact, they may
not even know this language is buried on page 165 of this 462 page Bill
(p-167 in the online pdf file referenced herein). YOU need to inform them
about this proposed theft or YOUR MONEY RIGHT NOW!
Your personal legistlator will not even read email from someone who is not
able to vote for or against them. However, they WILL get YOUR email within
minutes after you use the link below to contact them as YOU CAN VOTE on
whether or not they remain in the Legislature and the link below
automatically verifies that fact when you use it. In fact, YOU MAY BE THE
ONLY CONSTITUENT OF THEIRS that will contact them within the next 24 hours!
The WA OHV Alliance (www.wohva.org
) and every other off road organization in
WA State is doing everything within their power to get this language removed
from this Bill. However, the only thing that really counts is when YOU
personally tell your personal legislator what YOU want them to DO!
Just DO IT NOW before you close your email.
Please contact your legislator, Representative Dan Kristiansen, immediately!
You can visit your legislator's website immediately by clicking this link:
http://www1.leg.wa.gov/House/kristiansen/
. Sample text that you can copy
and paste into the EMAIL link ON THAT SITE is provided below, or write your
own. It is vital that you make your voice heard on this important issue!
(Please USE the EMAIL link SHOWN on the LINKED SITE in this alert.)
Just CLICK on the green colored "E-mail" hot link right below your
legislator's phone numbers on the page provided in this alert.
Do NOT use regular Internet email as that is very unlikely to get to your
legislator in time.
Please call the Legislative Hotline: 1-800-562-6000 If by some chance your
legislator has chosen not to put an "E-Mail" link on their personal web
page. Read your message to them for this representative and also complain
about the lack of an EMAIL link on their legislative home page.

Please insure the language on p-165 of PSHB 1244 that transfers almost $10
million from the Nonhighway and Off-Road Activities (NOVA) Program to the
general fund, is REMOVED from that Bill BEFORE you vote on it!

for proof that the current language found in PSHB
1244 regarding this transfer of funds, would VIOLATE the 18th Amendment to
the WA State Constitution that you have personally sworn to uphold!
Perhaps it is time to obtain a more equitable source of funds from the
recreation user groups who do not now pay any direct fees, e.g. hikers,
mountain bikers, horsemen, etc. Those user groups have been getting a free
ride for over 38 years now while we have DONATED MILLIONS every year! A
large portion of those funds have been used to benefit ALL back country
recreational users including hikers, mountain bikers and equestrian users.
Our Off Road Vehicle (ORV) programs have been self-funded since the ORV
users VOLUNTARILY DONATED THEIR PERSONAL RIGHT to a refund in order to have
YOU manage those funds for OUR (ORV user) benefit. Please do not allow the
legislature to break the trust that We The People placed in them and you.

Sincerely,
I talked to Rod this afternoon, his operation went great, better than expected. He's in good spirits with the great news of how well everything went. He'll be on laa laa meds for a couple of days, so, he won't be online, but wanted everybody to know how everything went and thanks for all the well wishes.
I just checked Google maps and it is 1.6 miles further for me to drive direct to Tahuya from my house and would save me about 2.5 hours in total travel time. That is with the help of the ferry.
But... then i would not have the pleasure of spending truck time and having breakfast with you and Chris.
So, i will see ya at your place 6:15am. Thanks for the extra 15 minutes.
