We still have our gas planes but there so much more work to fly than electric. Finding a good flying field is few and far between. I don't hardly fly much at all anymore since we lost our field at the Port Orchard Airport 6 years ago. What do you fly?

Bruce thinks he can find new engine block for $ 300. He needs to tear it apart and find what other parts he needs as well. It's not a priortity for him though, he has two other bikes and plans on leaving for a year and a half trip across the country in his motorhome.
Is Marymoor Park in Renton still open? I used to fly there a lot and enjoyed the folks that were regulars at that facility.

I still like the sound a four stroke makes. I have somewhat bigger planes with the smallest one having about 5' of wingspan. Big and slow gentle fliers are best for my eyes and reflexes anymore. I've got one on the bench, been there for over a year what with moving and all, that will use a 4 stroke weedeater engine, run on regular gas, and be a bit over 10' span and 24" cord. Slats, slots and Fowler (that spelling don't look right!) flaps will be independent of ailerons but the ailerons will act as flaparons as well. Building it so I can take it down and haul it on a rack on the quad, the plan is to do a bunch of video of back county areas from low altitude. May get into some crop mapping if the required cameras come down a bit in price. With the new radios and GPS interface it will be fun to set a course and let it do it's thing. Going to have to be wintertime and green grass spring stuff due to the possibility of a failure and fire.

Electric is great but the duration is way too short IMO. I like to have at least a half hour of flying time and have a couple that will stay up for over an hour. The new plane will make extensive use of carbon fiber and will be very light weight which should help with fuel economy.

Guess that's nuff airplane stuff on this quad channel, not interesting to most folks.
