Some riding area maps:

I have to appologize, I was thinking Cactus Flats....and being in a hurry I mixed that up with Crab!
Call the forest service! Crab and surrounding areas were effected by the fires last year, and were closed back when, but I haven't checked on it lately...but be sure to do that before you do a drive up there and find out it is closed.
The area in general is great, but like I said I haven't been there since the fires. As a backup, you could try Pinnacles as a staging area or even Miller Canyon. My favorite area is the single track trails between Pinnacles and Deep Creek. Might be tight in some spots for a big DS however.......

I called the Arrowhead Ranger station, and they said Crab Flats campground is open as well as all the roads in that immediate area. They said there is a lot of activity going on to remove the burned trees, so be careful of equipment, etc. 3N14 is still closed, but that is way out to the north of Big Pine Flats.
I'm not sure exactly what burned and what didn't, but you will be taking your chances in terms of the scenery........

3N34 from Crab Flats down to Deep Creek is very technical. I have done it on the 400EX, but I prefer to ride a 4X4. And 1W17 isn't for the faint hearted either!!! 2N12/2N12X is a short but fun single track trail. The rest is tame fire roads.
Haven't however been on any of these since winter. These change every season, so that adds to the adventure.
