Green Ridge State Forest, near Cumberland, MD.

Gorgeous mountain ridge campsites with views overlooking the Potomac River, ride trails right from your tent or camper (about a 14-mile loop, I think).

This facility is described on a MD state website.

Marienville, off of 66N in Pa. Or Wayne National Forest in southern Ohio. I go to the Monday Creek area in the Wayne. It's incredible.

Hondarancher, I'm not sure about your area, but I did come across this site in NC while searching for places near me....so if you're ever down South maybe you could take advantage of it.
