Hwy 173 from N. Bay Rd. to N Grass Valley Rd. had been closed since after the fires. It is now reopened for those who wish to get to Pinnacles staging area from the eastern Arrowhead direction.

Lots of folks there yesterday. I was wondering while we were there how to get there.
Is it 138 to 173?

If one wants to get to Pinnacles, the best way is to come up 18 from San Bernardino, then either take Grass Valley Rd. on the west side of the lake (not recommended for big trailers!), or take 173 around the east side of the lake (longer, but better for big trailers).
