found new trails in North Carolina
#1
I was driving down I-40 going towards Winston-salem and all of a sudden trails were shooting down the side of the highway everywhere. I came back later that day with my Scrambler 500 rode some of the trails. They go everywhere and to be honest I would rather ride here than uhwarrie, no competition. We met a kid on a xr80 and he said like 40 or 50 people ride out there every weekend. You can drive trucks or atvs on these trails. You can tell these trails go on and on and on. I will be riding these trails in two weeks and have a full report on them. I found a great place to park right off the highway. Many hill climbs, mudholes and creek crossings and the trails are well established, no tree limbs to duck or thorns to snag ya. The only thing I did not like about it was that there where very many different trail crossings, like I said they went everywhere, very easy to get lost. I have been riding for over 15 years and these might be the best trails I have ever rode on. Very high on the fun factor. I will let ya know how good they really are after I ride them for more than two hours. BTW I had this much fun while I was doubling somebody and trying to stay clean so I can imagine what they will be like when I am not doubling.

STEVE,
Where are these trails at? Who ownes land? Is public welcome? Yea I know, lots of questions. I live down around Fayetteville, and would like to know more about this area, as it is not that far away. Give me a mile marker, or something like that for the parking, etc. Looking foward to hearing more about these trails after you ride them also. I am going over to Tellico, TN Labor Day weedend (have family there), and that is some of the best riding anywhere, but these trails are a lot closer. thanks in advance for the info, and hope you have a blast.
RIDE HARD--NEVER LIFT!!!

If you are heading down I-40 between Greensboro and Winston-salem, the highway splits new 40 and business 40, go to the left on new 40. This split is right after you pass the sandy ridge rd. exit. From the split it is about 15 minutes on the new 40. You will pass the Union Cross exit and then start looking for power lines Big power lines. When you see them in the distance you know you are getting close. Start looking for a place on the side of the road that looks like they started to build a highway extension but never did. The highway widens on the soulder and then there is a small gravel road right there and it leads back off the highway to a great place to park. The trails start right there. As you are getting close to the place to pull off you will see atv trails on the other side of the road climbing the hills and following the highway. In two to three weeks there will be a couple of us going down there for a full day of riding. I was lucky as I pulled up I saw somebody that lives out there and he showed us how to get to a gas station on the trails. He told us that there is a huge rock quarry on the trails but we ran out of time and had to leave. Give me an email and we can meet up and ride the trails someday. I rode down near fayettville on some sand trails I think they were off of 87 right pass Sanford. Later,

I live in Carthage N.C. (near Pinehurst) and am always looking for new places to ride. This sounds like a great place. I have a 4x4 Big Bear setup for mud running. Are these trails good for that as well as leasure riding?
You didn't mention if the trails were on private or public land? Is it OK for anyone to ride here? If so, I may make the trek during the Winter months (unless hunting is done on the land as well, I respect the hunters while hunting season is in).
Thanks,
Larry R.

SWEET RIDING!!!!! I went out there on Sunday with another Scrambler 500 and we had a blast! All kinds of trails. There were hillclimbs, a few mudholes, long straights, cool as hell tunnels 4 side by side that are about 20 feet high and go under both lanes of I-40. It was very fun. They trails I guess are public. I did not see one sign that said no trespassing. When we pulled up there were already five trucks with trailers at the parking spot. We probably saw 20+ riders on everything from 250rs and banshees to 4x4s with mud tires. There is even one place that has a great set of jumps. I had my Scrambler 500 jumping smoothly at 5ft up off a tabletop. VERY worth the drive! Please call me or email me if you want to go. We explored all day and I feel I have a very good idea of all the trails. You have to be shown how to get to the best trails at least once or you will probably won't find them. At least half of the trails are off this one path that leads to the other side of the highway. Please let me know when you want to go, I am only twenty minutes from there and would love to go and show others the way.

I actually work right here at these trails that you are talking about, they look awesome, I haven't personally been on them but some of my friends have and they love them. There is one problem though, the unloading and loading site that you speak of off of Highway 311 and off of I-40 is private government property and there are signs posted all overe the place. I have never taken the chance to ride these trails, even though I can leave my parking lot right here at work and be on them in 2 minutes. If these trails are indeed "good" to ride, can someone tell me where to unolad at, and should I be worried that there are always cops and sheriff's all over the place here? I would love to ride these trails, I could every day, especially since I work right here at them, but I don't want any trouble with the law. Thanks
