Last weekend we checked out the coal creek ride
area near Oliver Springs Tennessee. We arrived
Saturday at noon and signed the release and paid
our 10.00 fee .We met Kevin ,one of the Windrock
Atv club members got some advise on what trails
to check out and took off.The trails vary from
gravel roads to old mining roads that are fairly
easy to ride. The views from the mountain top are
spectacular and you can see for miles. Also worth
checking out is the large windmills at the top of
the mountain, these are impressive. There were four
of us and we were all on utility Quads .We later
found one of the main corridor trails and we rode
thinking were would make a loop and return to the
parking area. After riding about 12 miles with out
seeing any familiar landmarks we passed some other
riders and hooked up with them to return back to
the parking area.My advise ask a club member if
they could show you around or take a GPS.After
talking to the rider that we met on the trail we
didn't scratch the surface of this spot.We didn't
stay sunday and find the more technical trails
like we are used at 909 at Livingston kentucky but
it was a nice change of pace without the trail
closed signs that are so prevelant at 909.we also
met some riders from Volunteer riders club who were making some tighter trails for bikes.Check
this place out if you can make a long weekend of
it.This place should get better as time and effort
on marking trails makes it easier to ride.We had
a ball and rode 60 miles in 6 hours which was not
too shaby considering we got lost once.
