Question Would there be any interest in a KS trail ride meet?

Been enjoying this site so far. I'd like to know if there is enough fellow Kansans to try to get together and do a group ride somewhere? I wouldn't have a problem with meeting at Kanopolis, Council Grove, Manhattan, Lake Perry, or Hutchinson. We could even do Council Grove and Manhattan both in the same day since they aren't that big and aren't all that far from each other. Just throwing the idea out there.

Kansas is one of the worst states when counting the available trails and places to ride dirt bikes and atv's...

How about getting band together and heading to sand dunes in Waynoka?

I could be fun. I live in Kansas City and it's very difficult to find a good place to ride that's even somewhat close.

Could do Perry and that one in N. Topeka I just found out about. Been hoping others would speak up as the weather gets warmer.

I'm about hour south from KC and have rode some trails at Perry Lake and done day trips to Waynoka sand dunes.

The part of Perry Lake I rode was pathetic small and I rode it around in less than hour so I'm all ears if there is something bigger near by.

There is supposed to be good trail network in Chadwick, MO which is near Springfield so it's a leg to drive but not as far as Waynoka sand dunes in OK.

Finger Lakes park at Colombia, MO and Leerjak at Patterson, MO are another few to check...

I thought Perry was quite expansive when i was there but i don't think I stayed very long it was durring the big heatwave last summer and even getting there mid morning after an hour it was getting mid 90's (humid too) so i didn't see as much as i could have as even in the forrested area it was getting pretty sticky. I think it's just individual likes as to what we consider a good or bad trail (like i know many like Milford but i don't desire to go back). I think you KC guys might like the one in Hutchinson along the river it's certainly different than others but i know it's probably farther than you'd want to go which is why I said Perry and Redmond was more suited and maybe the Topeka one.

I'm not local as I got here due my work so who knows the Perry Lake trail I rode was just one small leg of it.

If there is more then let's get together and see what KS haves to offer as without exploring the available options we don't have much to compare.

I got spoiled in Utah and Colorado with hundreds of miles of trails one can start ride from sunrise till runs out of fuel, fill up from spare and head back another way to be back home at sunset so I'm used to carry spare fuel, tools and food for the whole day or for whole weekend ride...

Not sure how much it might help as it's not too detailed, but you can click on the trail map and maybe get a better scope of the size of the area. I know there is a creek that runs through and a pond or small dam along the east side of it.

Perry Lake ATV and Motorcycle Trail - Kansas Motorcycle and ATV Trails

When I was there I found the spot where the one picture of the rider going through the deep water was taken, no water when I was there.

I have no doubt that our trails pale in comparison to those like you describe and I'm sure there are others farther north that are the same (I was by one in MI last year like you describe and wish now I would have taken a day and got a rental unit and had some fun). You just have to have fun with what is available and make the best of it. Even if it's small and just a few hrs worth of ride you are still having fun and being somewhere you haven't been before. That's how I would see it anyway.

Question

Any KS riders want to try something this coming Saturday? Supposed to be around 70 degrees most places. Perry, Topeka, Tuttle, Council Grove, Hutchinson?
