I hope no one is planning a trip to Hillsville this weekend, or for that matter ever because it is closed. Yup Hillsville is done. Thank you to all the morons out there who like to drag race on the road and dump all their garbage there. Also anybody who ever took a vehicle out there and left it or burnt it can kiss my a$$. This was to only real riding area that I had and now its closed.

Has anyone actually been busted yet? Earlier this year I posted a message about new signs and a guy taking pictures of license plates. No one seemed to take it seriously then. I went as far as to sell my yz400f, kept the rancher, can still ride in woods around my house. Yes I would also like to say thanks to all the street racers ( seems like mostly banshee owners like to do this ), Litterbugs, and partiers. Also noticed a lot of the out of town riders had little respect for our little piece of riding heaven, explains why they had to travel to Hillsville to ride. If this seems a little bitter, well it is. I rode there for 25 years, was hoping for 25 more. THANKS A LOT MORONS.

Ok this is why I posted this to begin with. I was there on wednesday and first of all I know wednesday isnt the busiest day out there but there wasnt one single person there. It was a beautiful day and about 5 o'clock and I figured that there would be a bunch of people riding.
There are big red signs everywhere that say "no trespassing" and other yellow signs on trees saying the same thing. Also on the way out I stopped and asked some local yocals what was going on and they told me exactly what I didnt want to hear; "Its closed"
I get alot of people asking me how can they just close hillsville like that, but here is the story. Hillsville is owned by some guy who bought it all from the minning company(or maybe the state) for a dollar. After several severe accidents(and I think someone died also) last summer he closed it for a while and then reopened it towards the end of the year. I also spoke to one of his friends who claims that the owner has been under alot of pressure by the police due to all the trash and vehicles being dumped out there. That is why we cant blame the owner for this happening which is our first instinct. The reason this happens is because of the mindless riders(and you all know who you are) who have no respect for private property. Many of us tend to forget that hillsville IS private prperty just like our backyards. Keep all of this in mind. Anybody else know anything else or have any more insight into this. It would be greatly appreciated.

Hey MX87TRX, Tower City is an"Off-Road Riding Club".You can ride there with a member or perhaps join .Check out there website www.towercitytrailriders.com,althought the site does not do the riding possibilities justice.I was just there today working on campsite.Love it up there.Glad to see good weather.
Tower City is a great place for all types of riding trail riding, mudding, hill climbing, racing, jumps etc.Miles of trails!
Just off exit 33,81 north{same exit as TCTRI}about 10 minutes from TCTRI there is, Rausch Creek MX, tracks for ATV's & Bikes.Website is www.Rauschcreekracing.com .Maybe one or both of these places will help you with alternatives for riding.Let me know if you are interested in TCTRI or Rausch Creek could show you around sometime,it's great riding in "Tower City"

yeah,,I talked to a local who said the owners main problem is people leaving junk there and cars. There was a new 'stolen' Firebird found there, there's a new style (stolen) Ford F-150 at the bottom of the super bowl now, plus all the other cars that have been there.

It makes me cringe to think about these fools ruining our riding areas. People have been riding there for over 20 years and now because of these disrespectful few, its closed. I was just at Shenago ORV and they are thinking about closing it too, because of the damage being done by riding Out of Bounds.

I talked to a guy who is trying to buy this land. He definately has the money. Just trying to work through the politics. It would then be legal to ride. That would be a dream come true for me.

Oh well, I guess I will be riding at wellsville more often now.

I first went to hillsville in 1969 with my dad. It was "closed" to riding even then. You are correct that a few *******s ruin it for everyone.
I live in the area and I personnally won't ride there alone ( without being armed ) thanks to some of the events I have seen over the years. I beleive the land is on a superfund cleanup list and someday it will be reclaimed. There is a owner who will greatly profit from the land if this happens. I know people who ride there weekly and the trick is to get permission to park on private property so your truck cannot be ticketed while you are riding. If you ride towards Bessemer watch out for "target shooters". I am a gun nut BUT after seeing the unsafe backstops being used I would not ride in that area if I heard gun shots.
