Sometimes if the snow is deep I only lower my blade enough to take the top half off, or even just the top third if it's really deep, then work my way down. It gets packed down when you do that but if it's deep and too heavy to plow you don't have many options. But if it's just powder I put the blade all the way down. The rubber flap on top of the blade keeps the snow from going over the top and blowing back in my face.

I'm going outside today and doing a snow dance, so you guys get ready! Get out them plows! You've been warned, its coming!! lol
Well after thinking about this a little more, I'm not a very good dancer, I've been told, so we'll have to wait and see how much snow to expect, or maybe I should hold off before I jinx the weather all up, and save embarrassing myself in front of my neighbors? lol What should I do?????????? Ok I hear ya hold off just a little longer? Ok I'll wait a few more days, but that's it!! Then I'll start dancing!!! I will!!
What I'm doing here is threatening ole man winter here, lets give him a few more days, and see if this works, just a few days!!!!!!! and that's it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid Michigan weather!
That's ok, I haven't even started to, even think of (how to hook up this plow up. Might not even have the stuff to get it attached) I just got it a few mo's ago, and it was all put together by dealer, then brought it home in-tacked , dumped off the plow, and don't even remember removing it, since I was sooooooo excited to get on this (never ever owned 4x4 before), and ride the yard! Then I've been parking the quad over the plow ever since, out of sight, out of mind. So I'm going out right now and try and hook this thing up and I'll take a pic, and post it if it all goes back together, ok. Be right back!

Big Frank, that snow blowing back in the face is one of the reasons I went utv with a windshield and cab enclosure. Can't have snow and cold messing up my delicate completion that I have worked so hard to achieve for the last 68 yrs! 4 tracker.. you better figure how that blade hooks up before you start dancing...ans also keep in mind what mother nature can do if you start messing with her! Be very carefully what you wish for! Down here it is supposed to get back into the 50's this weekend so 4tracker figure a way to store your machine with the blade on it!!

Just got back in. No, the more I danced the more it snowed, so I'll just keep on dancing! It really worked!! lol
Got the plow on, real easily, no problems. But I will keep the plow on now, and have it ready unless anyone cares to head up north or out to Bundy that is, and in that case its just a matter of pulling the 2 pins and un-winching.
In the picture of the hand warmer grips, I just ran the power to switch, removing the big wad of wires seen in pic. also eliminating the switch they came with, which is cheaply made, and could cause the battery to be drained if forgetting to switch off!
I'm heading back out, and keep on dancing!! https://atvconnection.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif https://atvconnection.com/forums/ima...ons/icon14.gif

You do have a wear bar at the bottom of your blade. That is removed and the rubber is sandwiched in between the wear bar and blade. Can't see the back side of the blade to see if you have skids. By letting the blade ride on those skids, your blade can ride up and down to follow the contour of your drive surface. Looks good....comeon snow...after this warm weekend!

Big Frank 11-29-2018 05:38 PM

I see the top of the blade is pre-drilled for a rubber flap. You'll probably never need one but you never know. It might start snowing like it used to years ago. Mine is 6" wide and 1/4" thick, give or take. I have it bolted onto the back of the blade and it hangs over the top. If you're blasting through deep powder you still might get a little on you, but when the snow pushes the flap up it adds somewhere around 4.5" of height to the blade.

Is that your hand warmers on top of the grips? You're supposed to pull the grip off and stick them on the bar then put the grips back on. I don't see a thumb warmer on there. That's more important to me than hand warmers. I never even had hand warmers but have used thumb warmers for about as long as I've owned ATVs. Holding the throttle cuts down the blood flow and my right thumb freezes even when the rest of my hand is nice and warm.

Tomorrow i'll try my hand at making a skid plate on ea side. of plow and need to do a bunch of research on the best fit for rubber wipes for my specific driveway needs. My graveled driveway is already so hard, I tried to shovel down into it, and couldn't do it! I had to scrape the surface real hard in order to level out the area! Yet I know when we get a decent snow fall the ground will warm up under it leaving a mess with these tires

Frank I had the numb thumb issue with my quad as well, never tried a thumb warmer as my leather snowmobile gloves seemed to do the trick. I can say now that my right foot has not experienced any numbness yet with my utv...lol. 4tracker. .If you don't accelerate hard and spin the tires you shouldn't have any problem. I found I had to accelerate really hard on my quad to break the tires loose on gravel. The extra weight on the rear will also help alot to stop wheel spin. On pavement the tires will break loose much easier but they wont hurt anything there.

The warmers never got that hot, so i figured if I buried them under the thick grips and then attach them to the steel bar I would never feel any heat! I only paid $4 for the set and if they last the winter, i'll shell out a few extra bucks next year for a better brand. I mainly got them to experiment with, and with mounting them over the grips they are nice and warm, not hot which will be perfect, i'm thinking, by using them inside mitts. I ordered another set and I can add to these if needed, when it gets really cold. Your right about that ''dumb cold thumb'' constantly on that cold throttle, so this is going to be an ongoing ''work in progress'' for years to come till I can get it right lol Hey what else is there to do while waiting on all you guys, talking/thinking/reminiscing about future plans ''OUT'' for trail riding lol The kids and I would go out all winter around here, 2-3 nights a week sometimes till 1am, yet still got up early for work and school next day! Sure miss those days, and i would still be out there, if the city hadn't cracked down on those places over the years.

Mabey you should consider moving into an area more suited to your interests. .I lived in the city growing up and did not care for it. Shortly after getting married we moved into the township which wasnt bad as we had vacant areas around us, but then moved into the country and have never looked back. Far fewer restrictions, lower taxes, better street cleaning, much more freedom and better property costs.
