Anyone ever ride in Perry State Forest in Ohio?
#1
We are headed down to Wayne next weekend. I was checking out State parks and such in the area and saw that there is a riding area at Perry that is close by. Does anyone know anything about this area? How long are the trails there? Do they compare to those at Wayne? Thanks for any help, BK

Hi BK.
We ride Perry State forest a lot and love it. However, seeing that you are from IN..I honestly don't think it would be worth the trip for you. If you have to drive more than 1-1.5(tops) hours to get there...I would NOT do it to be honest.
It is a lot smaller compared to WNF.
It is rough and rutted and very techincal compared to WNF.
Perry does have some killer hill climbs though!!
I am not sure how many miles of trails there are....sorry. I think at one point I was told 13 miles, but I'm not sure.
http://www.hcs.ohio-state.edu/ODNR/F...ests/perry.htm Does this help...have you seen this site?
The last time we were there, two weeks ago, they had one whole section closed due to a dam/culvert project they had going on.
If you want more info...e-mail me amd I'll try to help.

BK-- I would agree with SLB300ex, Perry is NOT comparable to WNF, Logan OH. Perry is very small, trails are tight/not well marked. Don't know how many miles total. It is a place to ride if WNF is closed! It will bore you after a day.
I am told WNF, near Ironton, OH. is very nice. I want to try it SOON.
RubiconBob and I will go at some point this summer.
Good luck at WNF this w.e.---I MAY go Sun. only, but don't know for sure yet. I park at Williams' campground, and jump on trail.

Is Perry State Forest worth your time!
The answer is yes it is somethings ppl say just crack me up. Like Wayne has more and perry is small. Wayne has 120 +- trails 6 ft wide that comes out to 450 achers you can ride. Yes its spread out over 45000 archers. Perry is 1800 archer scramble (free ride) area so that being said you can ride all 1800 archers. Next trails are rough, did the machine your riding come with shocks and knotty tires is it classified as off road? Well then your fine pick the trails that fit your riding abilities and grow them. I know this is a old post I'm replying to but misinformation is the worst. Perry offers a good 3-4 days worth of riding if your adventurous if not 2-3 and if you like the extream then 4-5 days. Don't over look it .
