Where to ride in Lake Charles, Louisiana area???
#1
I have a trip coming up after Xmas to Lake Charles, Louisiana and will be taking the new Lakota Sport for family entertainment. I am interested in hearing about riding locations in that general area. Any info that the local riders could provide would be greatly appreciated.

There realy is no riding parks in Lake Charles it self the closet think is LA Dunes about an hour and half away and forest hill now know as camp Claboirne right down the road from there. You could also go to Bundik lake its a free riding area with some trails about 30 to 45 mins from lake charles but i will look around and see if i cant set something up maybe I can find a riding area closer to Lake Charles and get some people together and go ride.

Sporty400:
Thanks for the info and the help. What do you know about this place called Bundik Lake? Any trail info on this place? I plan on arriving in Lake Charles late evening of Dec 26th and being there until New Years. Getting together to ride would be great. My brother in law and a friend of his has a couple of quads and Gaff is talking about coming down from New Orleans to ride and help tune my Lakota after all the mods. The more the merrier I say. I'm buying the beer. Keep me posted on what you find out about riding locations and as it gets nearer, we'll exchange some contact info. Thanks again for the help and looking forward to riding with you.

Sporty's Right,
About the only places around Lake Charles is Bundicks Lake (1hour north) Camp Claiborne(1hr45mins)Northeast or Kisatchie's Sandstone Trail(2hr.north). Personally, I like Kisatchie the best.

Thanks guys for the info on Camp Claiborne and Kisatchie's Sandstone Trail. I called and talked with the ranger at the National Forest Ranger Station three days ago and was told that all the trails in Kisatchie National Forest were currently closed for use due to the recent heavy rains there. She also stated that she was not sure when they would re-open. I am assuming that Camp Claiborne is a part of the Kisatchie trail system. Am I correct in this? I guess all I can hope for is that it doesn't rain anymore between now and New Years (wishfull thinking) and things dry out. Maybe they will re-open the trails before my trip starts.
Do they close the trails at Bundicks Lake as well when there has been heavy rains?
Has anyone been there in the last week to know if either of these places are open?
Does anyone have any pics of these places? I would like to see what I might be riding in.
I haven't been able to find any info on either one of these places on the internet. Any suggestions?
Thanks again for the help and I hope we get to ride some together.

Man, I can't beleive they closed "Sandstone Again". They just opened it back up last month. We were planning a ride up there for 12/22/01. I guess I better call before we go. If it's closed, Bundicks Lake is the only thing left. It's always open, the only problem there is, if the Creek is too high, you can't cross it to get to the trails on the other side. Then you are limited to the trails on the South side of the creek. Bundicks is just Open land, no rules, no maps, just a bunch of trails made by a lot of people. There are usually people riding there every week-end.
