i was planning to make a trip down to the badlands this summer. i live in michigan, and i looks like it would be about a 5 hour trip... do u think it is worth the drive? also, what types of riding does it offer? would they let a 15 year old drive a quad there?

I would say it would be worth the drive. When we go it takes about 3 hours for us to get there. Great hill climbs, Woody muddy areas. Streams to ride down and cross. Pea gravel old quarry to ride in. Not sure about the 15 year old, but would say that they most likely would not have a problem with it.

i found the Badlands website and it says that they will not let any one 18 or younger in with out their parent... so it sounds like as long as kids have their parents with them they are good to go.

It's not a real fine sand there but it is sandy. Stock tires would work ok but I would bring paddles or both if you can.

I too live in Michigan and yes, it's worth the drive. There's something there for everyone! Kids are OK as long as they are with a parent or guardian. I've taken my kids (9+12) and they love it. As for paddles, I would leave them at home. You do need a flag though.

Hope this helps,

I do not have much experiance with paddle tires so I can't argue but the place is pretty sandy so why wouldn't you ride with paddles?

They have a shop at the entrance to buy flags if you forget to bring them. I believe they run about $10-$12. I would try to bring some just in case they were out of stock. It would suck to have to find a shop in town that had them or worst yet, have to go home.
