I plan to ride this weekend (686 engine break-in) on Saturday. Maybe Red Rock. Have a group of 8 going. I will be cruising the power line road to break-in and work on jetting while everyone else rips the trails!

Your plans all sound like fun. I'm still planing on being in the Rock Creek Resort/Mommoth area June 25-29,30, YZGuy. Have found that I could rent and trailer out of Orange County. Pretty expensive though and the 3000 mile trip is already costing us a lot. If by chance you will be up there at that time, we'd love to meet you. E-mail me and I'll pass on my phone number.

Will there really be snow up there during that time?

Planning on a short trip with my other son and some other guys June 14th and 15th to Marionville in the Allegheny Mountains.

Yes I ordered the map for the Mammoth area but it didn't make it here yet but was reasurred that I can get it in Mammoth. If you guys want to get together after we get back count us in. We have never ridden Arrowhead area but always willing to trail ride anytime. Our daughter and her boyfriend are excited about riding that area as well.

Looks like we are probably going to be riding in the Mammoth area June 27-30, and Kennedy Meadows July 18-21. If anybody is going to be in the area and wants to join us, let me know.

Also, has anyone riden the Rubicon trail?? Some friends of mine who have jeeps are going to do it this fall. I was thinking of going along on the quad. What's it like?? Is it really hairy???

I've lived in Apple Valley since 74' and have never seen this many snakes. So be careful.

Anybody interested in a Kennedy Meadows ride July 18-21, can respond in my post "Kennedy Meadows Update: So. Calif.". (This thread is getting kind of huge, so it might be best to start another one.)

Chris-Snakes huh? Just another good reason to wear those big boots!!!

Chris-In the SB Mtns, are the trails in the fire areas open now?? Last couple years, everything beyond Big Pine Flats (3N17, 3N14, 3N59, etc) down to the desert has been closed. A couple of riders I met last weekend (I rode Silverwood Lake to Pinnacles and Deep Creek, but not beyond) said they thought they were all open now???? Anybody know???

They re-opened it Memorial weekend. It's kinda weird riding where there was a forest.I left my house and rode up the powerline road off of Deep creek rd(jf6) to jf4 to 3n59 to 3n14 then down to white mountain(3n17)2 weeks ago.We rode to 3n11(i think) dropped down the north side of the mountains to the mine with a spring coming out of it.This didn't burn and the ancient tractor is still there. We cooked hot dogs and enjoyed the view, then we rode to Holcomb valley and checked out the hangmans tree, pigmy cabin,Wilburs grave ect.

Some of the roads are open to "street legal vehicles only".3n14 is setup stupid, some places you can legally ride, others are for street legal stuff only.I have been seeing the same ranger up there alot His name is Bob Poole. He's cool with it as long as you got your spark arrester and green sticker.

He cought up with us once, checked us for stickers/spark arresters, gave us maps and told us to have a nice ride.

If he finds you off the trail or riding double he's not so nice.
