I don't know if I was the only one, I certainly don't think so by the way it looked at the gate. After leaving my home at 9:00am on Saturday morning and driving for 5 hours only to arrive at Marshall, Karnack or whatever it may be called and be turned away for reasons that I still am not sure of. ( I was told it was too crowded because of the ride being posted on the internet, and also told that I would get stuck and not be able to make it and that there were sherrif's and wreckers pulling people out--thought that was what I was there for..anyway..needless to say I was very disapointed that I could not get in. I think the thing that upset me the most was the fact that I had not learned of the event from the internet, rather had received an invitation to attend from one of the sponsors and that I had brought along nine other people and had told them how awesome that I expected it to be. Fortunately after going through trying to get ahold (literely) of the host I met a man who gave me directions to fun wheeler park in nearby Longview. We drove over to the location and ended up having a great time there. So with all of that said, if you get a chance to visit fun wheeler park I think you should try it out. The people who ran the place were very friendly and there were not too many restrictions. It is about 1000 acres with mostly mud (deep holes) and a nice track and a few hills. For me Fun wheeler park saved the day..

Let me just say that .. IT WAS CROWDED... I MEAN CROWDED and muddy.. when I got ready to leave.. A friend of mine had to push on the trailer with his Sportsman to get me out of there...
It was WAY overblown.. people everywhere... almost too crowded to ride..
Anyway, Fun Wheeler Park is about 8 miles from my house.. I go out there on a regular basis.. Watch out for the couple of deep holes in the "water track.." they have claimed a few quads..lol
I know when I left Karnack for a Mardis Gras Party Saturday evening.. they said that they probably wouldnt let anybody at all in on Sunday... even those that were there Saturday..
Did you try Mary's Mudhole?.. Or Mocassin Slough?
There are a couple of deep ones in the Slough...
Glad to hear ya'll didn't drive all that way and end up getting sent home clean..

No,
Both of them worked flawlessly the entire weekend... I just decided to unload the Scrambler so me and Adam could go for a faster ride... Once you've been riding a machine with 27" tires... you almost tear the handlebars off one with 22's".. Might as well get them both dirty...
I did sucker a couple of Hondas into a watery grave right about dark (Saturday) out at the duck pond though...
I went into it where everybody else was, two Honda 450S started following me, but then I turned right and headed out where it goes back toward the woods.. RIGHT THRU THE MIDDLE!!.. No shoreline huggin... straight thru the dead middle of it... Ya know... ITS DEEP OUT THERE!!... Deeper than I thought!!.. Anyway.. I went right on thru and when I got to the end, I turned around to head back and noticed the tho Hondas floating with riders standing beside them... One upside down... Needless to say, they took a pretty bad ribbing when we got them both back to shore...
Ask Adam about how deep his Scrambler will go in that little "trough" I talked him into going thru... It makes people scratch their heads when A Magnum with junky Blackwaters and A Scrambler with 22" tires goes thru a trough thats been claiming machines off and on all day...

I have to agree it was very crowded out there, but was alot fun. We got there about 3:30 on Friday and stayed until they closed down Sunday. Sorry I missed y'all Saturday morning. It took forever for us to get back into the gate Saturday morning (we stayed at a hotel in Marshall). Sunday was not near as crowded. The races were great, they were held one mudhole away from the duckpond. Two Honda 300's ended up winning the finals, but the heat races were about even with a couple of Polaris and Hondas winning each heat. I got some great video of it all. I also got some great video of people swamping in the duckpond. We went through several times, you just have to watch out for one bad hole towards the end. I've never seen so many people just let their bikes drown because they were too concerned about spilling their beer. "Don't worry about this $8000 bike, just don't spill my muddy beer." One other thing I didn't understand was all the bikes (especially from Fun Wheeler Park) that cut their silencers off and weld automotive exhaust tips on. Besides being really annoying, this has to take away torque from the bike with no back pressure in the exhaust. Oh well, sorry for the long post, I'm at home now instead of at work like normal.

YamaHonda..
Thats just the way it is... I see that every weekend... A few weeks ago out at Fun Wheeler Park a guy started going under on a Honda 300 2x4... (BRAND NEW!!) He just rode it to the bottom of the hole while holding his beer in the other... It drowned out, and he jsut sat there.. bike was totally under water to his chest... He jsut sat there on his submerged Honda..in front of everybody.. and finished drinking his beer.. Good for a laugh...
So did you see the green Artic Cat with a chrome tailpipe extension welded on it?...It had FUN WHEELER PARK on the front end of it.. LOUD!...
Did anybody else see the Polaris 6x6 with Vampires all the way around?... it was running dual exhaust.. riding with the "Rawhide" Honda Foreman?... That Polaris was BAD!!!...

You guys are really no good.

I start a thread to complain and ya'll turn it into a reuinion.

I am starting to think that I was the only one who didn't get in.

The sponsor did call me to appologize and told me next year it would probably be an invitation only deal.(Use arm bands similar to Fun wheeler park)

Mudmachine;
He made me an offer I wanted to get you opinion on. He said he would let me come down a weekend of my choice and put me up in a mobile home he has on the place..Do you think I should take him up on that? He also kinda rubbed it in like ya'll are doing... He said it is the best riding place in Texas. Man, the more I hear and read the more jealous I get. Do you think it is the best? I know you get around.......

Oh...Is there anyone else out there that didn't get in?

The down side is...The main reason I wanted to go was to see all of the differrent quads there and things done to them...I bet the 6x6 was really cool.

One more thing....He said about 6,000 people...
let's figure...I'll do the math 6,000x$25.00=$150,000. Not bad for a weekend!!.
Maybe we need to start an organization up...Buy 5000 acres and hold 2 or 3 annual rides a year.($$$$it adds up to me$$$$).I think it would pay for itself in no-time.. Hey, we wouldn't have to worry about tree huggers that way...

TO_Y28

97 Scrambler 500....You would have heard me if they would have let me in....(no crazy exhaust--just loud)

The Karnack run IS the Biggest annual event in Texas... Its the best run .. but that is partly because of everybody geting together.. I guess if he is inviting you down and there will be other people there.. It would be GREAT... There will be a mudrun south of Marshall on Memorial Day weekend.. I know you will have a blast there... Talk about mud and deep water.... they have a place called "THe Clay PIT" its basically a big hole about and acre or two thats lined with red clay and full of water.. bout 3-6 feet... You will have to attend that one..
FUn wheeler Park is A LOT better than it was opening weekend...
We are going out there tomorrow to ride... Next time they put on a big weekend event.. I wil have to let ya know so ya'll can come up and join in the MUDRACE
