FUNNY,
Just last w.e., while in Wayne Nat'l. Forest(S.E. OH.), I was told about some nice trails in the G@ylord MI. area!
MODERATORS: Too bad I can't PROPERLY spell the name of a town in Michigan.....know what I mean?

lackdog,

Could you please give me an idea what parking area you were at off the highway (?) and what general direction you headed when you got on the trail? loop? Any signs or landmarks along the way?

Thanks for any help you can give a 'native' who should know about this area by now!

Hi Michimaniac

The G@ylord trails kinda sucked but the ones near Grayling were AWESOME. I'm looking at my GPS tracks that we did that day it it shows we were northwest of houghton lake, (about 15 miles northwest). I know on the way there we drove past a massive army base and the trailer drop off is just north of Moorestown - Moorestown is 3 miles south of the drop off. The actual drop off is on the corner of Thirteen Mile Road and Stratford Road. Thats near Big Cannon Creek No 1 Flooding. Message me if you have anymore questions =)

Nice pics lackdog. I have always been meaning to head up to the G@ylord / Grayling area to ride, but have never put a trip together to do it.

I just looked at a map and you would talk I-75 North to US 10 which is just north of Saginaw travel down US 10 until it splits then you want US 27 (North). Then when you get near Nellsville you want to get on 55 (west)Take that down about 9 miles and get off on North Star City Road and take that down 4 miles until it T's and go right (East Walker Road)then after you go right make a left where that road T's (North Nelson Road). Take that road about 6.51 miles north until it T's and make a right (East Johnson Road). Take that down about a mile and make a left at Thirteen Mile Road. The first intersection you come up to is stratford and on that corner is the trail and where you unload. It's in the middle of nowhere....You can't miss the open area for unloading... Have fun...!

From detroit to the unloading zone your looking at 175 miles as the crow flies.

That is actually quite a ways from G@ylord. Do you recall what trail system it was ?
By the directions it sounds like you were somewhere between Kalkaska, Grayling, and Houghton Lake.
