I am from Rochester and have rode the trail many times. It is not a loop, you start just east of Lewiston and ride up to Altura. Then you have to turn around and come back the same way.(about 20 miles round trip) It is a fast trail. All hard pack and even a strait-away down a gravel road. No mud or rough terrian. There are a lot of double jumps from field driveways and such.
I would also check into the Trout Valley and Snake Creek trails. They are in that neighborhood as well. And are good trails(alittle more challenging)
chrisjstark@yahoo.com is my e-mail. Let me know if you want to hook up and go riding.

I'm also from Rochester but havn't tried this trail. I might have to someday. Is there a local atv club that maintains it? If so I'd like more info on joining.
If you're interested there are more trails about 2 hours from Rochester in Wisconsin. Eau Claire County has alot of atv trails and the Black River Falls area also has atv trails.

I ride at Black River Falls about 10 times a summer. They are nice trails.
Have you ever rode the sand pits at Wabasha?
Or the gravel pit in Fairbolt?
The Midway track at Mazeppa?
Millville motocross track?
And I guess there is an atv scramble area just south of Rochester. By the airport. Never been there, but looking into it.
let me know if any of you want to hook-up.

Mike Frey, we should hook up at the Midway track in Mezeppa. It is about a half hour north of Rochester on hwy 52. I would guess about one hour south of Plymouth on hwy 52.
It's great for bikes and quads. Can't we all just get along?

let me know.

This track in Mezeppa(?) What's the story with it? When is it open, is there a cost, how do you get there? I live by Lake Minnetonka, and got a buddy by Hutchinson that rides as well. We're always looking for places in the cities area to get our "fix" on non-ATV weekends Up Nort'.

Go to your local dealer and ask for an AMA Amateur MotoCross and Atv racing application. It costs $40 to become a member and then you are eligible to race the whole season.(about 30 races over the course of the summer in MN) All the rules, race schedule and race classes are described in the book that comes with the application.
There are seven or eight tracks in MN, and one in north eastern WI that are on the schedule. So you race each track two or three times.
With MX, Cross Country, TT, Hare Scramblers, Hill Climb, and Flat Track. There is racing for everyone.
I believe there is ten quad classes.
50cc-90cc kids
200cc-600cc utility
200cc two-stroke,250cc-350cc four-stroke
351cc-650cc four-stroke
250cc two-stroke A
250cc two-stroke B
250cc two-stroke Pro
350cc-500cc two-stroke
Pro Open
Unlimited
All of the rules and such are explained in the book. But you better hurry. Racing starts in two weeks.

When it gets closer to summer, I'll have a schedule and we can further plan, but I'm definetly game.
My dirt bike buddy loves Mezeppa. He said it is good for quads and beginner. Sounds good to me.
I don't understand why dirt bikers don't like ATVers. We never did anything to them. The just think ATVs are for utility. I wonder if they'll say that when a 400EX rips past them! (Maybe . . .) I don't care about the prejudice. I'm a quad guy and not much is going to change that. I'm in the sport to have fun and I have more fun on quads.
Moses, what kind of quad do you have? Where up north do you ride? I ride south of Park Rapids, Akelely.
Chris, do you race? In what class?
