Kermit Sand Dunes in West Texas. Look me up when you get to Austin. I'm only an hour and a half away and know of other riding areas around San Antonio. We are going to the dunes next weekend{23rd}.

Woodrow,

Is the Lake Altus/ Lugert riding area open right now? I've been there before, but if I remember right, it closes this time of year for waterfoul refuge or something.

sorry i took so long to reply, but ive been out of town ....to answer your question, the lake up here is closed six months out of the year (october through march), it opens again on april 1....it is closed for the nesting of the bald eagle, figure that one out!!! so we usually drive three hours yo little sahara to ride, its much bigger and a lot more fun there anyway..thanks for your reply....

Lake Somerville, Summerville, Sommerville I'm not sure how it's spelled but it's about a 1:15, 1:30 minutes out 290 towards Brenham, going toward Houston. They have a ohv area were you can ride bikes or quads. In Austin there is Emma Long Park. They only allow bikes both mountain (with pedals) and dirt (with motor) on the trails. I have seen a couple of quads out there though. No one ever is out there to enforce the bike only rule. I think there is a track in Bergstraum (not sure how it's spelled either) I'm not sure if they allow quads or not.
