Default Places to ride near Los Angeles?

Has anyone been to San Gabriel USFS, Mt Baly Ranger District or Tujunga ranger District? Hope someone can give me some info on these places. The only place I been to is Hungry Valley but its a bit of distance for me and would like to try some place closer.

See if you can find web sites for these places. Many ranger districts have them. Give the ranger stations a call and they will usually have maps of trails/roads that are open.

San Bernardino NF has a GREAT set of trails (single track!!) and fire roads . Call 909-866-3437. It is a bit of a drive for you, but so is Baldy!!

Try looking here.

I believe it lists most if not all places in SoCal.

Check out Stoddard valley if ya get a chance. You can ride over to the Slash-X and get lunch. They got the best (only!) burgers in town! A burger, fries and coke will run ya $10.00.

I have been going to Johnson Valley lately and I'm not real impressed with it.Gonna take yzguy's recomendation and try Rasor next trip.
