The LA Dunes riding area is not really sand dunes but there are some pretty big hills there. It's really a sand pit that's about 350 acres. You don't need paddle tires but they do make it more enjoyable. If you plan on doing any drag racing then paddles are a must. There is a pretty nice campground there with water and electricity hookups for $15.00 a night. Entry fees are $15.00 a day or $25.00 per weekend. Flags are required on three and four wheelers and dune buggies. They also have a concession stand and showers and restrooms. There are also a couple of crystal clear lakes which are nice to cool off in during the summer. LA Dunes is about 3 miles south of Forest Hill off of Boy Scout Road, which is off of hwy 165. There is an LA Dunes sign at the intersection of hwy 165 and Boy Scout Road. About a mile down Boy Scout Road turn right at the LA Dunes sign at the dirt road and follow this road into the campground.
