yes, well said indeed. That's exactly why I'm going to buy as much land as I can. I've seen land for $500/acre - just not ready to buy yet. Think about that. Next time you want to buy a car for $20,000, you can buy 40 acres to ride on instead!

No, IMO it's not wrong.I also am amazed that the State Of Rhode Island has banned all riding on public land, but yet by law we still have to pay to register them in this state?Doesn't make much sense to me, it's total BS.
Same here in MA. No riding in my area so why should I pay to register. I have a NH sticker .

Trust me,if I found a parcel of land selling in the neighborhood of 500 per acre,I would be parting with at least 10 grand very quickly.
I've not seen anything under 1k per acre around here(Greenville and surrounding towns) in a very long time.

LBoy.... all your points are extremely valid... But I'll admit, Lezzlie makes me a little nervous. You know he's a jerk.

I'm just waiting for him to come over one day while we're riding in your yard and nail us (or you) for the 2 of them not being registered.

Technically in NY they're supposed to be registered even while riding on your own property.

Oooooooh....... but...... Lboy...... I just read that the NYSDMV does honor valid out-of-state ATV registrations.

So we should be okay with Mass plates.....

I can understand wanting to avoid the tax payment, but come on folks. Who gives a rats a$$ about 10 bucks to register, in this sport? As said earlier also, if you get stopped the only thing you may have going for you is the fact you did the right thing by registering the vehicle. Suck it up and register. I had to pay tax and Florida is $40 to register. Granted I think my state actually USES the money toward atv trails. Write a letter complaining about nowhere to ride to the proper authorities.

It's not about the 10 bucks.... it's the entire principle of it, and the fact that those 10 dollars are not being used by the state for the reasons we're giving it to them.

It's all about location. How far are you willing to drive? I did a search on Mapquest for Greenville and it gave me 5 towns in NY What county is it in?

I had the same attitude as you are about paying to register my ATV in MA, no legal place to ride here in the eastern part of the state.I'll bet if more people registered their ATV's out of state and let their lawmakers know about how much the state was losing in tax dollars due to not listening to their taxpayers...maybe something would get done..the key word here is "MAYBE "!!!
