Banshee Boy, there really not much at all to ride in the southern mich area........the closest thing would be in Ohio, Maumee State Forest, 10 min. West of Toledo...our sticker is honored there !!!!.... or you can head up to Mt Morris ( 200 acre scramble area) cost $8 for non-county ( Genessee ) 10 - miles north of Flint, besides that unless you live on the West side of the state you can hit Silver Lake but that'll cost ya too......the only "REAL Trail System" starts at Gladwin ( 52 miles loop) and goes North from there...........though it can get pretty messy at Gladwin early in the season !!!!

about 30 of us are headed to Hulbert, Mi ( in th Up) 1/2 East off Newberry this weekend for a little trip to say the least.......about 300 miles worth, lol

anything else you need just post and i'll try to help, I understand your delema

I'm from Southfield, Scott (we drive a min 1 hour any direction, 2 hours to Gladwin - 5.5 hours to Hulbert)

man, the dunes on a holiday weekend? you better get there friday night to get your vouchers. Good luck anyways, hey take some pictures if you can, it'd be nice to see what they look like this time of year. BTW, heres my breakdown of trails I've been to.
Gladwin:WHOOP CITY, I hope you like sore limbs, because this is about 30-35 miles of all whoops.
St. Helen: My love affair. I like these trails. Easy to ride, hard to get lost. Very near gas and food. Oh yeah, and a 2 square mile sand scramble with nice hills.
Denton-Leota: Nice trails, but very tight. More of a dirtbike trail, but you can fit anything 400ex or smaller there. Raptors probably won't fit. Lots of deep whoops, some nice mud holes. Did I mention its tight?
Leota: Fairly nice trails. Lots of intersections, very technical.
Bull Gap: If St Helen is my love affair, then Bull Gap is my main love. Huge hill and 110 miles worth of trails. Enjoy, but bring extra gas.
If anyone is wanting to get a group together and go riding, let me know by emailing FastRT6Dakota@aol.com or EWill156@Ford.com. We go up just about every weekend, so I'm sure we could meet up.

Bull Gap is a couple of miles from Mio, Michigan. It's a little north of the middle of the lower peninsula. It's a fun ride, but I don't know if it's worth a trip from Illinois. Actually, we go to Tennesse to ride. Alot more challenging. You might try the sand dunes in Silver Lake. I would like to try that sometime myself.
