OMG! that is just awfull! I send prayers for a full recovery for her. I think everyone driving or riding one of those should always wear helmets and seat belts. and for heavens sake keep your limbs in!

that is a terrible trajedy , our prayers with you, in racing the little one we have seen very trajic accidents, I am now in the market for a side by side just sold my BF 750i, Icant belive these mashines dont come factory with 4 or 5 point harness
the industry engineers must not use anything they design. after reading and talking with owners of SxSdes i am thinking of going back to a new brute !! my son really likes to ride with me and i thought one of theese would be easier but now i dont know
mabye a quad with riding gear is better.

I would be more concerned on a quad than a rhino or any other side by side. These are not toys but they are extrememly safe when used properly by a skilled driver. The same thing can be said for any quad or off road vehicle for that matter. Yamaha now includes doors on all new and previously purchased Rhino, and the factory seatbelts do their job but are not the safest if you are doing some extreme riding. We have had our Rhino for 2+ years and use it on the trails of northern AZ as well as duning in Glamis and it has never been set on its side or roof.

It's all about how people use them. I've seen people try and get crazy in them. From a dead stop this guy punched it and cranked a left turn. Over it went and his PAX was holding onto the cage and it crushed his hand. I see people out in the desert letting their 10 year old kids driving them around without an adult. One was a 10 year old girl with her 6 year old brother. HMMM, I wonder why people get hurt??

My brother and I have had ours for over a year now and no roll overs or accidents. People want to point the finger at the UTVs being unsafe. Like anything, they're as safe as you make them. Do people think quads and motorcycles are safer?? Nobody wants to own up to their mistakes.

Off of the soapbox....

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but low speed turn? yeah! I have put over three hundred agrressive miles on my Rhino they don't just turn over in a low speed turn. Someone was driving stupid, and the passanger got hurt that plain that simple.

My sister also broke her femur driving our rhino, she wasnt take any low speed turn though she was messing around with her two friends and swerved doing about 40 and rolled 3 times without her seat belt on. Broke her femur, both shoulder blades, punctured her lung and bruised her heart along with a broken scapula. Was in ICu for over a week, but shes real lucky and is fine today and still rides the same rhino, just have to treat it as any other machine and know the damage that can be done. Luckily her friends didnt have a scratch on them, they were wearing their seatbelts.

I rolled one doing about 30 or so, but it was my fault. Out in the woods, at night, not knowing where I was (wasn't familiar with trails) and had to turn or slam into a tree. Only got stitches, but bruised my brain somehow. I was very lucky.....

still paying bills on that one...

also, don't drink all day and try to be a hero on those things...

Ive never rolled mine but I put spacers to widen it when I first got it. It seems to help but yes you do have to respect them

I just got a 2007 600, I got it for work spraying herbicides and stuff, but I will (of course) be using it for fun too. Pretty much for exploring, I most likely wont be using it all crazy, but I do have two young daughters andI would love to take them riding, but I am getting pretty sketched out by all these reports of fatalities and injuries. I wonder what the actual percentage of wrecks vs. numer of Rhinos out there? Am I worrying too much here?
