Default Noise when braking

has anyone experienced a loud grinding noise when they are on the brakes, even though the brake pads are good?

If the grinding is coming from the rear, check the rear brake disc. It is more than likely a little loose. Just torque it down a little and it will be fine. If you have the time, I recommend getting some blue Lock-Tite thread lock and applying a bit to the bolts when you are down there working on it. I would not recommend using the red Lock-Tite because its bond is too strong in my opinion and can make for a difficult disassembly when you have to replace the pads. Good luck!!!
