Default Moose Rapid Plow Mount System

I've pretty much decided on the 08 Rhino. The dealer only offers Moose plows. My main concern is what I have read on other posts regarding the lost ground clearance due to the Moose mount. I don't want to spend a lot of money on an UTV that has 12" of ground clearance and only lose it because the plow mount system hangs down 4 to 5 inches. Is anyone using the Moose Rapid Plow Mount System? I wondering how this new mount effects ground clearance when the plow is off.

I don't know if the Moose plow mount system for the side by side is the same as for a utility ATV, but we use the Moose plow mount system on one of our Grizzly 700s. You replace the stock plastic center skid plate with a 3/16" steel skid plate that has two mounting tabs on it. The mounting tabs hang down about 3/4", and are rounded on each end so they slide right over anything that they may hit. So with the utility ATV version of the Moose plow mounting system you loose 3/4" of ground clearance in two small areas, but gain a much stronger skidplate that actually slides over obstacles better than stock, and it is a lot more durable. We have done some serious rock crawling with our Grizzly with the Moose skid plate on it, and have had it high centered big time in the rocks, with no problems at all. I feel more comfortable taking that Grizzly throught the rocks than I do the Grizzly that still has the stock plastic skid plate on it.
