Default finally took the lid off the raptor and jetted up

well today i finally took the advice of many of you and took the lid off the raptor and jetted up from 160-165 mikuni mains to 175 -180 mikuni mains and the difference at least feels like a few horsepower.i am not sure just how much of a gain i could have got from just jetting up like i did but it was definetly worth the effort.that is quite a jump up in main size but i did a plug check after a WOT run and shut it down right away and the plug looked great.i am having trouble keeping my clutch adjusted even though it is a gytr heavy duty and i would like some recommendations on a very strong clutch for my raptor keeping in mind that it is a 686.how many rides do some of you get out of your built raptors before you have to adjust your clutch because i am used to only having to do a clutch adjustment after maybe 10 or 12 rides but with the set up i have now it is only holding up for a few rides before needing to be set up again ( is this normal for these higher horsepower raptors?).

It's about time!! Do you have an aftermarket cam and port work?

sixsixt- i do not (yet) have an aftermarket cam and port work but after seeing what jetting up did i may be looking at doing just that in the very near future.i can only imagine what those two mods would do combined with what i already have.in your opinion how would the reliability be with a different cam and porting?

I don't think reliability would be effeted at all with a stage one and porting. A stage 2 with the heavy springs would be a little hard on the cam chain a may increase the chances of a failure.
That was a big jump in jetting.

sixsixt- yes that was a big jump in jetting but i was very lean and with the lid on i was restricted but with it off i thought i would go way up because i know it is better to start rich rather than lean.i am going to drill more holes in my air box to help compensate for the bigger mains.i can tell you that my raptor starts very well and runs without any hesistations anywhere in the rpm range so i think it is jetted very close to what it should be but i will certainly listen to any opinions you have about it.i ran wide open in fifth for about a mile to see if it bogged down at all and it did not so that should indicate that i am at least very close shouldnt it?as i said before i will listen to any advice you want to give but i was impressed with the performance gain i got.
