I just bought a 96 wolv in perfect cond and it seems like its governd. 1st ahd 2nd gear will revev way up but 3-5 with, the throtle burried seem to die-out. I mean I was racing a 86 250trax and i would win the first 200ft., then loose in 600ft. but in a mile I would whoop him. Is that just the wolv or is there something I can do.

thanks
Choad 96wolv

The Wolverine doesnt have an electronic " rev limiter". Although the revs are kept in check by the cylinder head design. They are casted in such a way that they can only flow so much. Sort of like what a restrictor plate does in Winston Cup cars. You werent to specific on the "bog". It may be jetting. The 95's were known to have a bog in the midrange area but that was corrected in 96 and up models when they changed from a 36mm flatside carb to the 34mm cv carb. give me some more details about the bog and where it occurs and I will try to help.

From 3rd gear on it acts like it is cutting out and has a little jerk to it, the bog mostly comes when going from 4th to 5th. 5th realy lower the rpm .

I agree, you are too rich.
Yamaha does this from the factory to save on engine warranty expenses, Its hard to burn up a rich running engine
Try dropping the main jet one size. The needle clip is probably in the center groove, try raising it one notch. Make sure you have a clean air filter before testing...
Hope this helps.

I'd honestly say that your are prolly too rich just like everyone else said above. Try re-jetting. My Wolverine doesn't have any bog to it and it never did. Actually its pretty spunky!
=-)

Here is the scoop, tonight is was riding some more and when the engin is cold it totaly whoops #$@$%, But when it is hot it gets boggy. Going through a flat feild 1st 2nd 3rd go fine 4th will go but it wont rev high, and 5th you loose speed and RPM. The next thing is when you go up a hill, ohh approx. 35 degrees or steeper and you get a run at it boggs way down, then I shift into 1 and from a stop it boggs and has trouble getting going. And also it you ride hard for approx. 30 mins. the oil temp light comes on.

Thanks , Choad

P.S. Please be specific about jetting and carb things becaus I dont know a hole lot.
