Raptor timing?
#6
I did but not on purpose, worn cam chain and stuff. It was retarded 6 degrees. You can do the same thing by slotting the cam sprocket and dialling it back. I can't really say how much I gained from it because it was over time, kinda. But I gained low end when I went back to the right timing.

Thanks for your help.
I don't know if all that work would be worth the "maybe more HP" though. If I end up doing a 686 I'll have the tech to do it then.
Take care.

Ward, I was looking at this timing thread and believe what you described is more for timing the opening and closing of the valves to degree of the piston at TDC.
Correct me if Im wrong, But what is really needed to experience a performance gain is spark timing to degree of piston at TDC. Has anyone had any experience with doing this to the Raptor.

i bought the degree key and advanced my timing, it wasnt worth it.... it actually gave me more bottom end but made my bike slower so i bought bigger paddles and regeared it and it's a little faster then before but wasnt worth the 600 bucks i soent in paddles shipping gaskets and all that other crap to do it (flywheel puller).......
