I think there is no way to get the tranny fixed right by Yamaha. They can claim abuse. BUT I do think if somebody would push it you could make them recall for the one way and the boots. The is no abuse, that I can think of, that would cause either of these two things to happen. I also feel that they are partly related problems, PARTLY. A lean idle circut causing the motor to kick back, that gets the boots and the one way. BUT I still think that the one ways are junk. My bike hasn't lost carb boots in a LOOOOONG time, but I just replaced the one way, AGAIN!
Good luck in your fight, but I will guess you will be buying parts somewhere else from now on.

For all you guys rushing out to buy the new 450, keep these posts in mind when you are forking out over 7G's for a quad that hasen't been proven yet. Yamaha hasen't stood behind their customers in the past and I doubt they will in the future WHEN something goes wrong with the YFZ450.

my one way bearing went also but i thought my son ruined it,because he cranked it to death the first time the carb blew off.if i get another yamaha new im getting the extended warrenty.i might only buy used so the money saved can go into repairs.never had a honda problem kawasaki had 2 recalls on frame guessiting and did it no problem also aluminum cotter pin,,but at least they took care of it.the lem 50 used to break drive hubs so they gave ya 2 a time till the redesigned them.the only way to fight is to boycotte their products till they come around

After installing a kn filter, adapter plate and snorkle mods, it went to shop for rejetting with dj's. Boots popped off once and was towed back to camp by a honda 250 fourtrax, how embarrasing!!! Needless to say bike has never been back to shop because I do all the work on it myself. At least that way I know it's being done right, never trust a dealer, take a chance on yourself, you might be very suprised at your accomplishments.

How can they claim abuse when we ride the ATV's just like they do in their sales brochures???

Mine did,I also fixed problem myself with ZERO help from yamaha.I also now have new .050 over piston, new rod,02 gears.(2nd gear went south and did all the internal damage)I also like Ward660r will not buy yamaha again due to their **** poor customer service.I have to say i really like the raptor now though, she gets on down the track pretty quickly.
