I am very impressed with the gas mileage of my new Kodiak. We were about 40 miles into a ride when we came across a gas station. We were with a few Scramblers, and they needed to get gas. They would have never made it back. When I got to the pump to top mine off, I was very suprised. It only took $.70 cents to top off. That was even better than the Sportman which took on like .75 or .80 cents. The Scramblers took on the most. the 400 took like $2.10 and the 500 took $1.75. The way I figure is I can get at least 100 miles to a tank.

My 00 Xplorer400 takes about 65 miles to hit reserve. All two strokes are harder on gas than 4-strokes.Use to get 110-120 to reserve with my 98 Sportsman, but the Explorer is alot quicker and sportier.

There was a 4x2 Kodiak in our club ride a couple of weeks ago, after the 54 mile & 7 hour ride he still had about 1/2 a tank.

Not bad since most of the riding was done at 10mph or less.

I'am just curious on how many hours or miles do you have on your Kodiak??? I know someone who just bought one and on his first tank only got about 20 miles to the gallon.

Mac,

I just bought it a month and a half ago. I bet I only have about 150 miles on it. I haven't had the chance to ride that much recently.

Monk01,

Your gas mileage is incredible. At 40 miles on 70 cents worth of gas. If gas was 1.40 per gallon you used 1/2 gallon of gas to go 40 miles. That my friend is about 80 miles per gallon. Or you should expect about 320 miles out of one tank on your Kodiak. My hat is off to you, you are the undisputed economy champeion.

I am going on the same ride this weekend, and I am going to make it a point to check how many miles it is to the gas station. This time we are going to keep going, across state lines, we hope. I will let you guys know the exact mpg, I am getting on this trip.
