Default Raptor vs. yama 450...

If I get a raptor and gear it lower and give it 20'' turf tamers, would it stay with the new yfz450 ? I know the quad hasnt been riden yet but I dont want to buy a raptor just to have it get killed by the new quad on the track. thanks

sorry dude I know that the rappy won't hang with dirt bike motor in a quad so inless they detuned it you'll need some goods mods.

it all comes down to hp, rappy stock max 36, new 450 min 43 max 48. you do the math.

the only reason the z was so popular is doug (guss)? won on the same motor base, kinda. it was the 440 kit in the dirt bike motor with a walsh chassis. theses a ton at the atva races and none have impressed me.

If we're talking a flat out drag race. I think stock for stock the YZF will probably be faster. However in piped/properly tuned form, the Raptor will be victorious. I say that because I've already beaten a Houser framed CRF450F and a YZ426(Don't know what chassis) at the dunes when my Rappy was only piped. They were pretty even up till 4th gear. Then my Rappy started inching away. Torque is what counts in drag racing. And that's where the Raptor clearly dominates the smaller CRF and YZ motors.

I think the yfz would eat up the raptor worse in the dunes if the horsepower numbers on it are correct. Horsepower is what really matters in the sand along with the right tires and the yfz has about ten more horses than a raptor.

good for you my ds beat my raptor on the track and I rode a crf 450 that would have killed them both, that including out of the gate. I had a 11-1 piston, cam, full ct pipe in the rappy and I think it ran better stock ride is alot of it some people are just better riders.

Actually torque is what matters in drag racing. Horsepower is a byproduct of torque. In piped form, they are about even in horsepower. Raptor still has more torque.
