Warrior + trails

My '87 Warrior is a great Trail bike. We take it and the Raptor out to the Desert a lot... They are both good trail bike, but the Raptor has so much low end power that just an inadvertant blip of the throttle at the wrong moment can litterally launch you right off the trail. The Warrior can't do that.
But the Warrior has lots of suspension, and is geared well for trail riding. And even though it doesn't quite have the power to Wheelie over bumps, like the Raptor, it is a lot of fun take pretty much anywhere.
On rocky trails or really bumpy trails, any Quad will toss the rider all around, and I have to confess that on roght trails, I'd rather be on Two Wheels...
On sand, the Warrior will get around, even with the 22x12 baloon tires, but could probably really do a lot better with paddles.
Also, the Raptor's suspension just seem to soak up the bumps better that the Warrior. The Warrior has like 7 or 8 inches of suspension travel, but mine feels more like 3 or 4 unches of travel.....
BUt Kids love that Warrior, and I would loan it out to almost anyone with a little experience, and it's so bullet proof that you pretty much can't kill it.
My 17 year old drowned the Warrior in a lake at the Oregon sand dunes last year, filling the crankcase with water....He drove that sucker back to camp, like that, stopping at one point cause it wouldn't run with water in the float bowl, I just held the throttle WFO until it ran smooth, got it back to camp and drained the oil and water out of it, filled it back up with oil, and when we changed the oil again, way too many months later, that Warrior was no worse for wear......

Like bud said get a skidplate for swingarm, thats where i ALWAYS bottom out at. Yea the warrior is really nice for trails give it a b because it sometimes bottoms out and seems to get stuck at the dunes yes even with paddles and lacks power to get around in sand. but a nice thing about it is reverse!

Not sure what the clearence it on them but i have 2 Warriors and they are a very good trail bike. The are rather quick on the trails and u can keep up with the best of them as long as u know how to ride good. They have good power to get up hills and alos catch a little air form time to time. Over all the Warrior is a good trail bike.
