Default Raptor Pilot Screw

I just screwed up a Pilot screw by trying to braze an extension on it for easier adjustment when the quad is running. I thought the screw was brass but when I touched it with the torch, it melted like plastic. My local stealership doesn't open until 10 am so I've got some time to investigate other options. Does anyone know if another Pilot screw, perhaps one that will stick out of the bottom of the carb, fits in the stock Raptor carb? I have a flexible screwdriver that works OK but still think it would be easier if the screw was extended out of the carb. Thanks!

I'm alittle confused, the pilot screw is inside the float bowl, how can you adjust it while the bike is running? Do you mean the air/fuel mixture screws? The pilot jet isn't adjustable, it's referred to as the slow jet in sizes 22.5, 25, 27.5. Screw it in tight and your good to go.

Pilot screw or AF screw or air screw, all the same. Between $10 and $15 each at the local stealerships but nothing in stock, $45 to have it by tomorrow! Oh well, live and learn. While I'm waiting for Sat UPS delivery, I may try to salvage the melted one by cutting off the needle, drilling a hole in a longer bolt, and pinning the needle in the longer bolt. I'll post pics if it works.

the trick is to have a jewler add an extension to the screw. or drill a small hole and screw in an extension. bummer dude.

I'm stuck waiting, I couldn't find a 6mm bolt with .5mm thread pitch to make a new needle mount. Also, I learned that the Raptor uses 2 different AF needles, a thinner diameter needle on the larger carb so be careful if you have them both out at once.

Thanks for setting me straight, you are correct, pilot jet inside, pilot screw outside, or as referred to as air/fuel mixture screw. I was having a brain melt down.

My apology to you for misreading your post, you definitly know what you were referring to. I have also thought of an extension for the pilot screws, must be something better than a flexable screwdriver.

Check with SRC Summers Racing Components...they make one for the FCR that replaces the entire screw and it wortks great...if they don't make one for us I bet they might.
Just a thought...and since its been the only one I've had all day don't bash it.

I'm going to have a beer right now.
