Last night while riding I noticed my exhaust got really loud , I did not notice any power loss nor was it back fireing . Once I stoped to take a look
I noticed my cap and the discs were gone , I turned around to look for them and it was'nt very hard to find cause the exhaust packing left me a nice trail leding to the cap and discs .

Question : I am going to re-mount the cap and discs , is it ok if I dont replace the packing and just leave it empty ???????

If I was you I would definetley repack your silencer. I know the thought of it being hellaciously loud is hard to resist, especially when it would be free and repacking costs money, but I have been told and proved that an engine makes the most hp with a properly packed silencer! Also, it would sound less annoying by means of sounding higher quality. My yosh needs new packing, because I have ridden it quite a bit and the last time I took it off to polish it, it had browned part of the stainless sleeve. So there is another caution. What kind of muffler are you running?

CT racing full exhaust.

 

I would re-pack it. Since we are on the subject of CT exhaust, I was racing a guy yesterday that had a full CT exhaust and it was pretty quiet at idle compared too my full open end cap e-series. I was surprised....no-way his was in need of repacking.

 

Damn , I was hoping I could get away without the re-pack , where do I find some or is there any other quick fixes ?
It was very nice to have that thing screaming plus I still cought and pulled away from one of 416 EX's I ride with.
I was really shocked that it didnt run any different , but on the trails we never did top them out .

 

Why was that 416 in front of you anyway? Head start?

 

He is much faster in the deep whoops then me , he passed me there , once we got to the jump section(its really a wash so the jumps are about 10 ft high but you only drop about 4ft on the otherside) I started to catch him , then the trail leds to open desert with light whoops and small 4ft jumps thats where I got him and left him.

 

OK I only got 4cents of input I need at least 50 ...lol

 

Wait a minute....I CORRECTLY read your first post.
You do not have too repack if you are using the disk end cap system. The purpose of the repack on an open muffler (besides noise) is too optain a slight amount of resistance....this resistance helps a 4 stroke maintain exhaust velocity. You already have some resistance with the end cap. My apologies for quick reading...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]. Is that worth $.30?

 

LOL... that is worth .30 , so I am not going to hurt anything ? Its not running any hotter nor did it run bad , I just cant find any re-pack plus momma took all the money away cause I just bought a truck .
