yamaha and honda

I dont know what all the fuss is about. People talking up both machines and saying one is way better than the other. I dont care what everyone says about either yamaha or honda, I would take either bike before i would buy anything else out there.

I knew there were some people who agreed with me Its good to know that some riders feel the way I do. I personally think that Hondas and yammies are the most reliable bikes out there. what do all of you think?

Yamaha is pretty good, but Honda is the most reliable with the track record to prove it. I'm a yamaha guy. We had Yamaha's in the 80's when everyone else had Hondas around here. I hated Honda's because I was a kid that had something different, but their old 250's were bulletproof and well designed. We had a few things go wrong on our yamaha's, but very minor. Then we got a 300 Honda, and that thing has been as reliable as it gets. Starts on the push of a button (with no throttle) even in winter. Has had like 5-6 oil changes in its 14 year life (pretty bad). I'm more than content with my 660, but I'll have to admit Yamaha slapped it together pretty quick, and could have done a better job in a lot of areas.
I just almost won't own a Honda now, and not because I don' t think they are good bikes. Its just that I've heard so much boasting about them over the years that I just can't be one to go with the flow. Now if they offer up a lockable version of the Rincon with disc brakes and a Rubicon (or manual) transmission, I would go buy it. Either way, I have to give them credit for what they have showed since 1984. In reliability, I'll have to give Yamaha and Kawasaki a tie for 2nd. Both have been very good over the years. Suzuki gets 4th, mainly because they had some crappy built quads in the 80's. Polaris gets last regardless of how their current stuff goes. They had too many bombs. The chain driven 2 stroke utility isn't exactly the working man's choice, and a stupid idea. It did win the hearts of a lot of people wanting a fast 4x4 back then though. Bomb & AC don't get ranked from me, because they just haven't been around long enough. Nobody can say their Bombardier has been running strong for 10 years. Both look to be pretty well put together though, and my AC was an absolute tank. Reminded me of a more capable Honda actually.
Yamaha is my favorite, and I want them to make the baddest quads available, but if they don't, I'm not going to give them credit for doing so. I'll go buy something else that seems better. Brand loyal is stupid in my mind. Thats like Honda owners in 99 getting 450's because Honda made them. Then trying to say they could outperform a Sportsman 500 (which nothing at that time could do). All on the basis of "it must be the best because its made by ______".

Talking about Honda and Yamaha as it relates to off road vehicles is similar to having a conversation about cars...what is better Toyota or Yamaha....both are the most reliable vehicles.....sorry Ford/Chevy/Dodge fans....but I had a honda car through high school...never had a prob...and now I got a Tacoma....no probs.
Point is they are both top dogs in their respective fields, and sometimes it's like comparing apples to apples as far as dependability is concerned.

Well then get ready in a couple of years because Arkansas might actually be able to hang with you again. Lately the Hogs have held Kentucky in check throughout pregame warmups and right almost up to tipoff. Football is another story. But I'm sure not braggin on the UofA program there. They need some help in a bad way.
But I did like UK back in the days of Tony Delk and Walter McCarty. That was a bad *** bunch that could even hang with the 94 national champion team. Is Keith Bogans finally out of eligibility????
