Hopefully your buddy was wearing protective gear? I wrecked my raptor in the desert (hey, it's gonna happen when you ride hard) and broke my back (compression fracture). The emergency room personel said that my helmet was the only thing allowing me to survive the accident.

My trick when doing a jump for the first time is not releasing the throttle since that way, If you don't land correctly, the quad is not going to land on your head but you're going to land on your butt hehehe. Still better than killing himself

Actually, this very same thing (landing straight onto the front bumper nose first from too fast too high off a jump) DID kill a guy on a Raptor.

Serious. Dead Dead. He was wearing a helmet, yet the quad broke his neck, back and internal injuries.

How do I know this? His buddies were selling the thrashed quad for the widowed wife, she didn't even want it back in her garage or to see if ever again. I was looking at buying a used Raptor for cheap, and went and looked at this one for sale.

The front stock bumper was flat up against the frame, the rear subpframe was tweeked bad, plastic twisted to one side, bars bent badly........

Bad Karma man, no way I was going to buy a quad that had killed someone.

Would a aftermarket bumper have saved him, who knows, but quads CAN kill you in a heartbeat.

'nuff said.

Keep it rubber side down, and happy trails to all.
