Do front sand tires make much of a speed difference when climbing or is there very little difference. I was thinking about getting some smooth buffs. What do you think? going on a yfz 450

I use Mohawks on the front of mine. However, I've noticed that the stock knobby's do a better job at braking and turning in the sand. If you're not into hill shooting, I wouldn't waste the money on front sand tires.

iluv2fly- actually the front sand tires can make a big difference if you go with a larger size and the smooth surface of the sand tire even with a center rib will help your front end float on top of the sand and not dig in.you can really notice quite a difference when the sand is very dry as far as flotation and also they are quite a help in off camber turns in sand.if you like to ride sand bowls at speed then a front sand tire is a very good idea and will help to keep you from drifting down into the bowl.

happarap if you were asking me i would say that running 22-8-10 fronts as opposed to the 21-7-10 is a good idea for the extra flotation that you get.what front tires to run is often overlooked as being a performance enhancer but even if it helps a small amount all of the small things add up to make quite a difference.i would not want to go back to the 21-7-10 size up front after running the 22-8-10 but that is just my preference and my opinion is just that and nothing more but i hope this information helps you.

If you can find them, check out the sand rib. They are similar to the three rib tractor tires and they seem to turn very well in the sand. Better than any other common sand tire that I've found
