Default busted intake valve help

Well I thought that when the lock nut on my 96 warrior intake valve came off and I did not bend a valve I was lucky. Not so. I was taking a nice easy ride today when the motor just died. I tried to start it when it backfired out the carb and blew a hole in the intake manifold. hmmm. So I towed it home and got into it thinking my timing chain might have broken or jumped a link but no everything was fine. Then I noticed that the intake valve rocker was tight even at tdc. Thus I tried to loosen it thinking it might of tightened by itself (I know that is impossible but it was wishful thinking). Thus I came to the conclusion the intake valve must have broken off inside the cylinder.
Now for the questions.
Supposedly it was just bored 30 over with a weisco 12.5 to 1 piston.
1. what are the chances the cylinder is ok?
2. If not ok, can it be bored any more?
3. If it can be bored more, any suggestions on the piston of choice?
4. Is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The cylinder might be alright but you will have to dismantle the top end to find out what else you need its 50/50 on the cylinder. But I am sure if you dropped a valve the head needs some recontructive work and both new valves. The valve is probably sticking out of the top of the piston and bashed the head.

so what did happen, have you pulled the head yet or are you guessing? didn't you just put an intake valve in it? is the exhaust rocker also tight when at tdc? because it sounds like it jumped time. was the valve seat cut when the valve was put in or just lapped? maybe the valve retainer cotters weren't seated fully and one popped out and dropped the vavle down.

I am half way through pulling the head off. I have the 2 large allen bolts and the carb and I will have the head off.
Supposedly the guy I bought it from said that he just rebuilt the head with new intake and exhaust valves etc. I dont know how much he did or how he did it.
I did check the retainers and they appeared to be there.
Just out of curiosity, does any one know how much machine shops usually charge to do a head.
Also are there any performance upgrades that could be done while I have the head off?

thanks again for allthe help, I need it.
