Raptor not starting...Help anyone?!?
#1
I just bought a 2001 660c Raptor. It ran great till I "the first timer" got it. I was is riding for 2 hrs and I stalled and blew the seals by my carbs (I read this was a common problem with the raptors). In the process of trying to get it started again after I reaseated the carbs it stopped turning over. I tried to start it and nothing. The key is on the Switch is on the battery is charged the fuses are ok by the battery. Is it my starter or something else?? When I push the starter button the red temp light comes on and nothing else. Help?!?

Got the kill switch on "ON"? Check your connections to your starter.
OH, and about that carb blow back, check your valves. I'd say either your intakes are too tight or your getting a lean backfire and need to adjust your jetting.

I disconnected my safety swith that lets it start in any gear if the clutch is pulled in. Now, if I try to start it in gear, the temp light comes on. it HAS to be in neutral to start now. try that.

I was able to get it running by pop starting it. It ran like a champ. As soon as I shut it off...the same thing...It seems like the starter just dont want to turn...

Does the starter spin and suddenly stop?
Have your battery load tested at a shop...(shouldn't charge you more than $1)
If nothing happens "jump" the solinoid(little thing by the starter the pos. cable connects to)by using a insulated pair of pliers(you don't have a pace maker do ya)Or in laymans tems touch one end to one nut on the square box thingie and the other end of the pliers to the other nut...
If this makes the starter spin the solinoid should be replaced
If same happens again it is most likely a one-way starter gear(do a search)

Wannaberider, check the solenoid like was posted, pull the fuse out and clean the connections, also pull the plug with the red yellow and blue wires and check to make sure its not all corroded up. Also clean your battery terminals if you havent already.
