Default 2001 Raptor back up and running

I finally made the time to get the 01 raptor back up and running today after being down since the second day of FSW's. Bob Craycraft and i spent the last 2 afternoon and evenings reconstructing it. Most of the parts have been in Bob's shop since the week after FSW's. I look forward to getting it out on the strip to see what kind of numbers it can post on race gas thru the stock modified carbs. looking for 4.9 or better. My first impression is that it should do alright. I was a little worried since we did away with a few items that comes from the factory. Hope to get her broke in and dialed in this week and to the track for her madien test and tune. Being around so many raptors over the last few years they keep getting faster and faster. She has been updated/lightened and friction has been cut to the bare minimum.I will be dissapointed if she can not school some big bores and there quads.

Thanks Bob

If she runs to expectations the 03--686 will be looking for a new home and i plan to get a yfz450 to let Craycraft rework. With the price of cannonfails getting so low i may get one of those 2 and make a big bore FROG. I have never seen a big bore frog.

Big bore Dale, wouldn't that be a bull frog?

we did away with a few items that comes from the factory.
I have this mental picture of you and Bob sitting around a scattered Raptor motor saying, " Ahh we don't need this in there, Mark get the torch"....and I have seen you weld.....LMAO!!!

Seriously I hope the new build does great, as I am sure it will. Can't wait to see some times!

Mark, with all this "speed" and "experimental" work...did you go with the faster gear set?

Congrats Mark! If you guys have figured out a way to get the stock carbs dialed in and CONSISTENT with race fuel, I suspect there will be a lot of new Craycraft customers. Any details allowed on the factory parts you ditched?

Yeah, I'm curious about the stock carb mods that you did...

So did you guys go all out and make a Craycraft 727 freightliner????

Ryan has the freightliner, 14mins is a stock bore.
What piston are you using? You didn't do something drastic and leave out the counterbalance shaft did you? I have a feeling you no longer have reverse.

The secret Chetracer oil has worked for me but I had an extra advantage with keeping the 01 virgin Raptor going. I started reading these forums for suggestions and then applying them to my Raptor. Where has the time gone but thanks again to garyc660R
for one of the first clues in having a long term 01 Raptor.

The piston gernated in the 2003 last week. All considering the damage was not that bad. I should have it up and running in a week or less. Need to get the new sleave installed. I think Ryan's freigtliner is fixing to be passed by a peterbuilt shortly.

Bull frog. lmao

Gary- 02 reworked gears
