I'm sorry but I still can't picture what you are talking about. Are you talking about something inside the plenum or the plenum itself? Maybe I'm just hungry and its lunch time.
Or are you talking about where the carb connects to the motor?

DO you have one??? not where it bolts to the carb the other side. The carb has a big ugly box behind it and then it goes to the big air box. Don't know the exact terms of whats it called but the box behind the carb facing back has a step up that the air has to flow through and that massavely restrictive.
Its probably me and I can't explain it right.
I feel there are not worth the price what so ever! JMHO

Just a guess, but connects the airbox to the carbs. It makes it where you can use the stock Raptor air box, one carb & 2 holes in the airbox. You could just run a clamp-on filter though.
I do have another comment about it. It pssies me off that Edlebrock won't sell the manifold without the carb.

That is my quad you are all talking about! I am currently adding a Hotcams Stage 1 and probably a port and valve job.I will post the dyno results when I get it all done in a few weeks (darn job!).
The plenum/secondary airbox I believe is very well designed and necessary. I spoke with the guy who designed and tested the carb before production, and he said it was necessary and helpful. It brings the air from the two airbox holes into one airmass that the carb draw off of. He said that it was necessary to get the single carb to run right off the dual entrances from the airbox.
Stay tuned to see how a slightly modifed engine will run with the Edelbrock . . .

RR! I think the porting will help that carb get the air it needs.
I think the design is the only way they cound do it with such a big carb and for it to mate to the airbox but it is VERY restrictive but atleast the porting will help.
I think Ward had the answer with just running the clamp on!
