I have a chance to get an 89 banshee with PSI pipes, DG bumpers front and rear, an AMP link, V-force reeds and nice tires, oversized carbs, and newer plastics.
It looks pretty nice considering its an 89, Im not too bright with 2 stroke motors... so how long will it last if I would rebuild as often as need be, also I am mainly buying it to modify and customize as a display quad for my co. and get som fullbore plastic... the good thing is, its not too far from where I live.
So should I check it out?

Man it really depends what condition it's in...If it's been used and abused...I'd forget it.
Take it for a ride...if it rips a good more than a stock banshee, and check for the signs of abuse, get it .

if compression is good and there are no apparent signs of being beat(bent frame, broken parts, etc...) then get it. by the way the PSI pipes are fairly good. really any aftermarket exhaust will help the banshee greatly when properly jetted because it is so choked on the top end from the factory. no ohlins shocks do not come on it from the factory, and yes they are a very good shock. to me if it looks good buy it even for $2000 it is a good deal for that awesome bike. i like to re-ring my bike every 60-80 hours just to be on the safe side, it is $60.00 which is very cheap maintenence for longevity. an amp link keeps constant tension on the chain for better power transfer to the rear wheels and when jumping it keeps everything in tact. full top end rebuil probably every 150-200 hours depending on condition of piston, cylinder, and the way the bike is ridden. trust me it is a very simple engine to work on. good luck.
