Back from the war

Hey guys,
Well, I made it back from Baghdad in one piece. It sure is good to be home. That's the good news, here's the bad.
I got home on the 2nd of July. I wanted to race on the 4th, but thought since I haven't been riding in 3 months I better wait til I get some practice in. So instead we went to my wife's folks home for the weekend. We came home on the 5th and I had about 45 minutes of daylight left, so I thought I would take a quick ride out to the gravel pit. 15 minutes later I was sitting on the ground with a broken leg, dislocated shoulder and a couple broken ribs.
Luckily a friend was there also and was able to call for help. I spent a few days in the hospital and now have 2 screws in my ankle. My wife was PI$$ED to say the least.
I'm blaming it on the new Works shocks I put on right before I left for the desert. I hit a bump and got a little sideways then hit another bump right before going down a small incline. I ended up being slightly sideways in the air which would have been ok had I not stuck my foot out. I bet you can see this comming. When I landed my foot went under the right rear tire. That pulled me off the quad and I landed on my shoulder. I'm not sure how I cracked the ribs, I must have hit the handel bars or something.
I guess it could have been worse, usually there is nobody at the gravel pit.
Any way, this little accident has slowed me down but I'm still able to ride. I even considered getting rid of the Raptor but have come to my senses.
The moral of this story is, be carefull. Hey, it's still good to be home.

Don't race yet, give it another week to be safe. I thought a small hairline fracture in the bone from my wrist to my ring finger was healed up after 2 weeks (no cast:-) and rode arena cross. The bone came apart into 4 or 5 pieces. I'm real lucky I didn't have to have screws/pins but I'm now stuck in a cast. Give it another week and then you can do anything. It really sucks to wait until you think you are healed and then have to wait again:-(
P.S. Welcome home!

Welcome back, one of my best friends just came home about a week ago. Unfortunately he is just home for emergency leave and has to go back on the 30th.
